CREEEEEPY! But true story!

March 22, 2011

One of the questions that I get asked a lot is “Did you always know you wanted a large family?”   and the answer to that is, quite honestly, NO!   I had no clue that I would have this many kids.
Well, I take that back.  Actually, I was once told that I would have a double-digit number of children.   Who told me this?  Well, not so much as who — but what:  a Ouija board told me this.
Oooooooh….creeeepy!
But I’m telling the truth.  I was about 11 years old, and my friend Lora had a few girl friends over her house one night for a sleepover, and for FUN she brought out this “game” board that looked just like this one:
I had never seen or heard of this “game” before.  We all sat around it – there were about five of us- and we placed our fingertips lightly on the little heart-shaped piece in the middle there.  (It’s detached from the board)  And then we each took turns asking this “thing” questions.
The typical question from all of us was:  Who am I going to marry? (giggle giggle, because we all had our little crushes back then)   We would then watch as the piece literally moved under our fingertips from letter to letter, spelling out a boy’s name.
When it was my turn, I asked it, “What is the first name of the man I am going to marry?“
Notice I did not ask it “WHO am I going to marry?” but rather, I asked only for his first name.
So the piece began to move, quickly across the board…and it went straight for the “R” then quickly to the “I” and then to the “C” and quickly to the “H” — just like that, really quick and precise, without hesitation — and then it was still.  I kept willing it to finish the word with the letters “E” and “Y” because at the time, ALL of the girls on my street (including me)  had a crush on a boy who lived in our neighborhood whose last name was “Richey” and I just figured that maybe this thing had made a mistake and was, in fact, spelling out his last name instead of his first, and it just wasn’t finished spelling it.  But yet, it stayed very still on the “H”.
So I asked it again, “What is the first name of the man I am going to marry?”
And again the piece quickly shot  across the board to the letter “R”, our fingers barely touching it…
R….I….C….H
And then it was still.
Disappointed and a bit frustrated, I asked it a third time…and again it spelled out the same name.
Now, since the typical 11 year old actually believes she will marry her crush one day, and everyone there knew who my crush was, all of us were left wondering…
1) why it wasn’t spelling out his FIRST name, like I had asked?   and

2) Why was it quitting before it was finished, since it was so obviously spelling out his last name?

WHY?  I’ll tell you WHY….

Because it wasn’t spelling out my crush’s last name.  It was spelling out my husband’s first name, just as I asked it to.  I married my husband in 1992, and his name is Rich!
Have you got goosebumps yet? Chills, perhaps?  If not, YOU SHOULD!!  That thing is creeeeeepy!  Never, ever, ever, ever get one of those things!  I think they still sell them at game shops.  No way, those things are…..well, they’re not good.  Let’s just leave it at that.

Let me re-cap in case you missed it:  That thing TOLD me what my husband’s first name would be.  RICH.  And I married a RICH.  And I’m telling you, everyone’s whose fingertips were on it that night tried to will that piece to spell out the rest of that name – RICHEY – but it would not budge once it landed on the “H”.

Because IT knew!  It knew who I’d marry one day, and that his first name would be Rich.  I find this very, very creep…now, as an adult Christian/Catholic woman.  But as a child of 11?  It was just an annoying game that didn’t give me the answer I was expecting.

Have you ever played with this board before? Don’t do it, I tell ya.  The thing is evil.  It’s very uncanny how that piece moves on it’s own.  It does!  Your fingertips are touching it, sure…but there’s no doubt about it:  that thing goes where it wants to go.

But wait…there’s more!

Back to that night.  After it spelled out  “RICH” instead of the name I wanted it to spell out, I was a bit perturbed and didn’t want to play anymore.  The other girls were having fun with it. But me?  So not happy.  Very bored.  But eventually it was my turn again, and this time I asked it:  “How many children will I have?”  I figured that was an easy enough question.  It just has to move one time to one number.  How could it mess up?
Well, it messed up.  It went straight over to the “1” and then quickly swung all the way over to the “0“.  And then it was still.
That’s a ONE and a ZERO, People.
As in…TEN!
I thought, “Okay…this thing is malfunctioning.  Ten kids…I’m so sure!”  I knew of no one at that time who had more than 2 or 3 kids.  And this thing was telling me I’m going to have TEN? Yea, right! Give me a break.
My friends laughed and teased me.  We asked it again, and sure enough…the same number.
That was the last question I asked the darn thing.  It so obviously wasn’t working for me.  Eventually everyone got tired of playing, and we put the board away and went to the kitchen for some late night snacks.  And that was the last time I have ever played with a Ouija board.
As time passed I forgot about that sleepover at my friend Lora’s house, and I forgot about those answers that the Ouija board gave to me that night.  I just never thought about it because it didn’t mean anything to me, and well, I was just 11 years old, and so eventually I forgot the entire thing as the years passed.  It wasn’t until recently that I was reading through my old journals (I’ve kept a journal since I was 9 years old)  and I came upon the entry that documented all that happened that night at Lora’s.  I couldn’t believe it.  It came true!  I married a man with the first name of RICH.  And I was well on my way to having 10 children!
Now, it’s a fact that I only have 9 children right now.  We were about to have a 10th – twice – but had miscarriages.  So do those miscarriages count as part of that prediction?  If so, then I have 11 children, and I would have made that prediction untrue.  But if those miscarriages don’t count towards the prediction, and I go on to have another…then there I am at TEN.
So what do you think?  Have you ever played with a Ouija board before?  If so, what did it tell you?  and did it come true?
** update to this post: since having Aaron in 2015, I have given birth TEN times.  The Ouija board was right!

I also, was told the full name of the man I would marry on the ouija board when I was 20 and engaged to be married at the time. I dismissed it as it was completely different to my fiancé’s name. After our marriage fell apart 9 years later, we both moved amicably to separate flats. Mine needed central heating fitted immediately. My ex knew someone with a company that could send fitters to do the work straight away. I ended up dating and then marrying one of those fitters. It was about two years later I remembered the ouija board name which I had made a note of. So my first husband was instrumental in introducing me to the man named by the ouija board. Twenty years later we also divorced so I always wonder why I was destined for the second marriage. Can anyone explain? I am now in my seventies and alone.

Me and my friend done a Ouija board last night and the things it said was so real! Her sister died and she came through and said things that came true! She also had a message for me! I never met her sister but me and my friend are close and she told me that im pregnant! I said you must be joking and she said no! I asked what I was going to have and she said a girl! I’m a bit sceptical about having children as I didn’t think I would be a good mum so I was a bit shocked and I said I’m scared and asked if I would be a good mum and she said yes! Then another spirit came through and told me the exact same thing baring in mind he was a 15 year old boy that drowned and I didn’t know him, I was freaked! But I do believe in ouija boards and ghosts and anything supernatural! I haven’t taken a test yet but will soon! Let’s see if the spirits were right

Me and my boyfriend played last night and got sombody named ava. It answered all questions appropriately, super weird. I was asking about my dead best friend Jordan and it said “no, ava”. As if It was like.., no my name is not Jordan it’s ava. It mentioned her name ava 3 times. I asked of she was happy where she was she said “yes” I asked if there was anything I could do to help her she quickly and strongly said “no” she said she was 35 years old. I asked her if she remembered herself ever dying she said “no”. Ava said goodbye when I asked her if where she was, she had a physical body- guess she didn’t want to talk about that! Wasn’t able to contact any of a second time.

LOL well I guess it’s possible if 1)you’ve had sex recently, 2) you missed your period, 3) you tested positive with a home pregnancy test…AND if the ultrasound sees a little baby in there, then YES in that case the “game” will be on it’s way to being correct (if you also have two more children later on down the line) — good luck to you!

Wow! Ok, this is one of the best stories for the board I have ever read! I’m so glad you stopped by my blog and pointed me to it. I’m glad I got to read it. I do have goosebumps.

Whoa…Anonymous…that’s definitely a trip! OOoooh it gives me chills. I didn’t even know there was a death symbol on the board. But I guess what it means is that one day you will probably die. No surprised there, right? I mean, is there anyone out there who has defied that? Death is normal. We all will do it. I wouldn’t worry too much about that symbol :)

I played with a homemade version of this when I was 10 years old at my friend Carloe’s house, and like you I asked the question who I was going to marry. I too expected it to be a boy that I liked in my class at school, but it begain to spell out MATT, and I thought oh no I don’t like Matt in my class, but it went on to put a letter E and O, spelling MATTEO. At this point I though this thing is stupid, that is not even a real name! I though for sure Carole was moving the thing. Next it begain to spell out a last name…I can not remember all the letters it spelled out for sure, because it seemed so insignificant at the time, but I do know that there was a package of spaghetti on the table where we were playing with this thing, and the last name it gave had the same last letters as spaghetti. I just knew Carole was moving this thing at this point. I do believe it spelled out BACCHETTI. Carole said hey that’s a foreign name! I think its Arab or something. This made me mad, I said I am not going to may some foreign guy! Then there was another symbol on the homemade board that Carole called the death symbol, and the pointer immediatly went to that symbol. It scared me a bit, and made me mad because I thought she was the one making it move the whole time. I told her there is not way I am going to ever marry a foreign guy. I don’t know the significance of this death symbol, or what it could mean. I forgot all of this, grew up, and studied abroad in Italy where I met Matteo Bacchetti, and married him. It was at least two year into our marriage that I begain to think about that day with Carole and the Ouija, and came to realize I did marry the man with the weird foreign name that I though Carole was making up. It freaks me out a little, because it came true, and because I do not know about this death symbol

This is very strange indeed. I have a very similar experience that has freaked me out for quite a few years now. I actually just googled the subject to see if there were others that had this happen and that’s how I found these stories. A few years back my mom brought over an old box of all my old personal items from childhood, yearbooks, photos, etc. which had been stored in her garage for years. I went through everything and found an old heart jewelry box from my childhood with my ID bracelet, a necklace a boy gave me and to my surprise an old lined school paper folded up with just a first and last name on it. To my astonishment it was my husbands name and I was like how in heck is this possible??? How could my husbands name be written on this paper in my old jewelry box from early childhood and has been stored away for years!! I was perplexed but didn’t put any more thought to it and I was really annoyed at him at the time (he was gone for the weekend) and I crumbled it up and threw it away. It was about a year or so later that I was thinking back to my youth and remembered playing the Ouija board with my friend and we asked it who I would marry and it spelled out a first and last name. I don’t remember the name but I remember being scared and I decided I would write the name down on a piece of paper and hide it away to see if it ever came true. Once I remembered this I of course then remembered the jewel box and how it had my husbands name on the old piece of paper. I have been freaked out ever since! But if you do research on Ouija boards and how they actually work it is scientific and they actually move to where your subconscious mind unknowingly is thinking about. Look it up it is indeed scientific and how the board moves because you push it without realizing it and somehow goes to your subconscious. Still freaky though because that means we ourselves predicted the future and are some sort of psychic, or there is some truth to these things actually contacting some spirit or something who knew the future. Either way it is super weird and I’m still upset about it! At least I’m not the only one it happened to so I feel a little better… Hope you do too

No. I come from a strong Christian faith, and I’ve been told to never ever go near one of those board games. Sure, at times, I wanted to try it to play with my friends or whatever (I wanted to trick them into thinking the thing was actually moving by itself), but from what I gather…it’s evil. And your story IS creepy.

I think some people take that Christian/Catholic thing too seriously and say that it’s a sin to play with those things. I’m Roman Catholic and my uncle is a priest. I actually just asked him after reading this what his view was, and he said it is not against the religion. However, old school Catholics do feel that it is “against God” to know about their future. He said it currently isn’t against anything, but people are set in their beliefs.

That said, that’s creepy! I’ve never played with one because I was PETRIFIED!! lol :) I hope you do have that 10th to make the prediction true.

Um! I have played with a Ouiji board and funny enough it told me I would marry a Scott and have a child named Joshua.

Well my first husband was Joshua, and my second husband is Scott, and we have a son named Jaydon, so it might have been a little confused, but OMG!! I have goosebumps right now, and yes I am a Christian and don’t believe in too much of this stuff, but that is crazy, 10 kids and your husband’s name…what a coincidence….I guess! LOL!
