I have now entered the 40+ years. I guess I could have said that last year when I turned 40. But, you know, that year was titled the BIG FOUR OH and it was sorta special because of that. But 41? There’s not too much special about that number, except now I am officially a 40+ (plus meaning numbers after forty) and I don’t know just how to feel about that. Hmmm.
This year I have to split my birthday celebration up into two days (which isn’t so bad, actually!) because Rich had to work an overtime today and so he and I are going to dinner and a movie tomorrow night (Thursday) and today (Wednesday July 14th, which is my real birthday) is the day I treated myself to a spa day. Well, not the whole day…but most of it. It started with getting my nails and feet done. I was waaay overdue for a pedicure, so I really enjoyed that. I even splurged for the “extra long” massage — he he. And usually I get the French nail style on my toes, but today I was feeling young and frisky and so I had them painted silver. Yes, you read that right: SILVER! as in shiney and bright! Very cool. And I got acrylic nails put on (pink & white) and they look soooo good, I might have to start wearing rings again!
After that I headed over to Burke Williams which is my favorite spa place (okay, so it’s the only spa place I’ve been too….can’t that make it my favorite?) and I had an 80 minute Delux Session massage, complete with full exfoliation and hot rocks and all that. Ahhhhhhh. Heaven. I loved every minute. After my massage, I sat in the steam room for about 15 minutes. Can I say that I just love steam rooms? Something about sitting there and sweating makes me feel like I’m shedding the pounds. Like the longer I suffer, the more pounds come off. Crazy, right? I know, but it helps me sit there longer, the more I pretend like that. I believe it’s good for something, isn’t it? Like your pores or something? I will have to look up (ie. Google) just what benefit steam rooms have for us. There must be something….
When I got home, I found that Tony had baked me a cake. It looked funny, but tasted awesome! He had also bought pizza for everyone so that I didn’t have to cook. Love that guy!
Audriana and Afton helped by watching the kids for me during the day. Love those girls, too! And after dinner, guess what I did? Well, I went to the GYM and did an hour work out! Yes!! What a way to end the day. Oh wait….my day officially ended after I read the little ones FIVE books. Yes, FIVE. They were short books, but still. They count. I also scratched and tickled some backs with my new nails. They loved that.
And here is a video that Mariela (Tony’s girl friend) took while the kids sang Happy Birthday to me. I especially love hearing Aria’s little voice mixed in with everyone’s. She sounds so cute!
(remember…in order to hear the video you will have to first scroll all the way down to the bottom of this page to My Favorite Tunes and pause the music…)

Happy birthday! Thank you for your prayers for my husband. Your comment touched my heart. He is doing so much better. His meds have kicked it and God has allowed him to be in much less pain for almost a day and a half now. He is like a different person! He thinks he might be able to go back to work in four days!
I responded to your comment on the same post about the overtime. You might check it out.
Blessings,
Stacie
