I wake up each morning after a peaceful night’s sleep.
I eat breakfast with all of my children.
They are here, they are happy, they are healthy.
We live in a beautiful home…
a great neighborhood…
a wonderful town that is clean and safe.
What if one morning, while I was enjoying all of this — it suddenly changed.
What if in just 2 minutes time, everything was completely different.
What if my beautiful town suddenly looked like this:
I honestly cannot even imagine it.
But yet, it could happen here.
I live in southern CA.
It absolutely can happen here!
But yet today…today it happens in Japan.
And I’m wondering…how many mothers are there in Japan right now who just a few short hours ago were living their blissfully happy lives, enjoying their homes and their children, but now their reality is this:
My prayers go out to all those families right now.
I truly cannot even imagine it.

Beautiful post. I can’t imagine it either, I’m also in Southern California. And yet I find myself staring at the images wondering how these people will cope and move forward. It’s just terrible.
Thanks so much for following. Looking forward to following you back.

This is frightening. Everyone here in Ohio has been saying we won’t complain about the snow for one more second. We’ll take it, gladly.
This is so horrific, I don’t think the world knows yet how to respond. I hope Japan is able to recover quickly – but they have lost so, so many lives. My prayers are with them.

Stunning post! I also had the same feelings! Any calamity can happen to all of us! We take it for granted most of the times! My thoughts are especially with the children who have lost their parents!

Beautiful post, all those people continue to be in my prayers. What a fantastic blog, I’m so glad I found you! I think it’s awesome that you have 9 kids, I’d like a big family myself (I have 2 right now). Two of my friends are the oldest of 9 kids in each of their families, and I know one family with 12. I couldn’t agree more with Mother Teresa, every child is precious! Following you back from Mommy’s Peanut Gallery, thanks for stopping by! I will be back often!

Following back! The devastation is unreal. Thoughts are with them, for sure.

Scary times indeed. We’ve just recently had the edges of the massive cyclone Yasi here in North Queensland, Australia; then watched the earthquake in Christchurch NZ, and now this awful quake and tsunami in Japan. Some of my Japanese students were returning to Japan this morning after their first ever 2 weeks away from home. Some of them live in the affected area, and I can’t imagine how they must be feeling now, not knowing what they’re going back to.
You just never know, makes you appreciate what you have I think, and cherish every moment.
