Over at The Spohr’s are Multiplying they are having a Limerick contest in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Limericks are fun – and sort of easy – to write, so I thought I’d take a shot at it. Here is what I entered:
There once was a family of nine
Who thought that everything was fine
Until Mom played a trick
When she peed on a stick
What’s that? A positive line!
Who thought that everything was fine
Until Mom played a trick
When she peed on a stick
What’s that? A positive line!
Months passed and arrived baby Andy
Who smelled better than the sweetest of candy
Siblings loved him a lot
Their complaints they forgot
Until Mom announced another dandy…

Until Mom announced another dandy…
That’s right – Baby Nine’s on the way!
She will add to their joy everyday.
It’s a fact that eleven
Had become their new Heaven
Once Aria joined the family – hurray!

Is this family complete now, or what?
Do the parents need a kick in the butt?
They must be crazy, it’s been said
Find a hobby outside of bed!
Nine children will surely drive you nuts!

Mom has to laugh at that silly thought
Honestly, nine does not seem like a lot
When you add one at a time
Really, everything is fine…
Afterall, Octomom I am NOT!

If you’d like to enter the contest, go on over to Heather’s Blog and submit your Limerick. The prize is $50! If you don’t want to enter, then head on over there anyway…and vote for me! Just scroll down until you see my Limerick, and then REPLY under it. (that is how the votes are counted, by whoever has the most REPLIES under their entry!)

Wanna hear one of mine?
There once was a man named Matt,
Who stood on some juicy cow pat,
He tried to break free,
From this sticky cow pee,
But he heard another big ‘SPLAT!’

9 kids WOW, I admire you and am actually jealous.
We hope to have at least 4, been married for 11 years and well we only have 2 kids and 1 miscarriage. Never used anything to stop a pregnancy either. sigh…
Beautiful family too.

Okay, that was hysterical! Very talented! When you said lymeric, I was all “there once was a man from Nantucket” and then I was all – no, someone already wrote that! Plus, not exactly appropriate for a mommy blog! Hehe Happy St. Patty’s day!
