The fall soccer teams are forming. Practices have already started, and games start in September. This year we have two new soccer players: Five year old Andrew, and six year old Aislynn. In addition to those soccer players, we also have returning players Alex, A.J., and Afton. We signed A.J. up for fall soccer before we knew he’d be playing for the PONY league baseball team, so this boy will be in two sports in the fall.
We are a big-time soccer family. Every single one of our kids has played soccer — well, except Aria, who at the age of three is still too young to join a team! But she would if she could! She loves playing soccer with her siblings. She even has her own cleats and shin guards.
Once the soccer season starts, our weekends will be booked with back-to-back games. Our weekdays will be booked with team practices. This, of course, is in addition to our typical schedule of piano lessons, girl scout meetings, Kung Fu classes, and various other things that keep us busy all week long.
Each year I get a little nervous when soccer season starts, wondering how in the world am I going to DO IT ALL and get them ALL to where they need to be? And every year I somehow manage to do it. I’m not saying it’s easy, and I certainly do not mean to imply that I never get stressed out. Because I do have my days when I think ugh, what did I sign myself up for!!! And of course I’m not always on time to everything as the kids will be more than happy to tell you yet they all get to where they need to be, and they always have fun. And that’s the important thing.
And we always want to do it again next year!
