Andrew, Aislynn and A.J. are really enjoying their Kung Fu class.
We are very new to the whole martial arts scene, and I must admit that I am very impressed with it so far. These three kids of mine are saying things like, “Yes, mam” and “No, sir” (which is required in class) and it has carried over into the home as well (sometimes!).
Kung Fu has helped with their confidence. Soft-spoken Aislynn lead the class in kicks the other day, when asked by the teacher.
He said, “Aislynn, would you like to lead the class in high kicks today, mam?” and she said, “Yes….” just a little unsure of herself, and he corrected, “Yes, sir?” and she said, “Yes, sir!” and he said, “Okay, Aislynn. Please ask the class if they are ready…” and she said in a loud voice, “Ready, class?” and they all answered, “Yes, mam!” and she kicked once and counted, “ONE!” and then the class kicked and said, “ONE, MAM!” and then she kicked again and said, “TWO!” and again the class followed with a kick and said, “TWO, MAM!” and it went all the way to ten.
I was SO proud. I mean, it’s one thing for A.J. to lead the class – he, who is a natural leader and not soft-spoken at all – but for Aislynn to do this? It was a huge confidence builder for her, and that is what I love about the martial arts. They teach self-decipline, leadership, confidence, and respect for others.
In the fall they will join the advance class and will begin earning their belts. I can’t wait!

love the pics, looks like fun! i was showing Tanner all your kids names because she wants to name her kids with A’s when she’s a mom. We were wondering, how do you pronounce Aislynn?
Also, I had my volume way up and jumped when Kung Fu Fighting song started playing
