My Little Pumpkin

November 4, 2013

So the entire month of October I have been searching for the perfect fall photo scene to do with Aiden, and I kept going back to the Baby in a Pumpkin idea.  I saw all these adorable photos on Pinterest and I just knew I had to do this with Aiden.   He is the perfect age for this shot.

So I had Rich go out and buy a good-sized pumpkin.  He gutted it,  then cut out two leg holes like you see in the photos above.  I set the scene by using other pumpkins as props and put them with the main pumpkin on our front yard grass.  The lighting was great, and we were set to go. Now, we just needed a baby to go into the pumpkin…and that’s where Aiden comes into the picture.

Yeah, he didn’t dig this photo idea much.  In fact, he screamed the entire 60 seconds that he was in the pumpkin.  That’s right.  Sixty seconds.  All the kids were shouting, “MOM!! HE DOESN’T LIKE IT!  STOP TAKING PICTURES!!!”  So I put the camera down and I lifted him out of the pumpkin. He was slimey with pumpkin goo all over him, but he was happy to be out of the Big Bad Pumpkin.

So much for this photo idea!

Now that I think more about it, what’s up with those other babies??  They actually liked being inside of a pumpkin, all smiling and happy? I think my baby is the normal one with the normal reaction, don’t you?

Pffft.  Pinterest and their dumb ideas.

Why do you think it is that I never stuffed any of my other kids into pumpkins when they were babies? I’ll tell you why: because there was no Pinterest back then!!!  I mean, who in their right mind would ever think of doing this?  I obviously was in my right mind with the first nine … but now I’ve lost it due to Pinterest.  Poor Aiden.

We have a lot of Pinterest fails. I wanted to do that too but ran out of time. Bet I would have had similar results! We can always try the baby in the stocking next month!

I couldn’t help but laugh! I’m sure all of us have, at some stage, made our children do something/wear something for the sake of the ‘perfect’ photo and it just doesn’t work out! For my daughter it was holding a koala while she screamed “Its scratching me!!!! Its sticking its nails into meeeeeeee!” So much for my lovely shot!

Oh! Aiden’s expressions are priceless. He certainly did not react the same as those other pumpkin babies. So sweet that your other children wanted him out immediately. His photo on FB cracked me up!!

Too cute! Maybe try it again and cut the pumpkin to shorter and the legs bigger.

I’m sorry but I had to laugh. Poor Aiden definitely did not like the inside of that pumpkin. Thanks for sharing!

HAHAHAAA! I’m laughing at those faces! I too was debating doing the same pictures with my 6 month old but glad I didn’t now.

Maybe they lined the pumpkins with fabric for those shoots?! I guess that would be a cold, wet shock!!!

We put rags at the bottom so he’d be sitting on something soft. I don’t think it was a comfort thing with him. I think the pumpkin scared him!

That really made me laugh!! Aiden may have hated it at the time but he’ll love looking at those pictures when he’s older!
